Frank McAvennie has claimed that it is a ‘big, big boost’ if Dominic Calvert-Lewin can start for Everton away at Liverpool in the Premier League.
Carlo Ancelotti had revealed in his pre-game press conference ahead of the match against their bitter rivals at Anfield that the 23-year-old can start following an injury to his hamstring that has kept him out of the Goodison Park faithful’s last two games in the Premier League.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former West Ham United, Celtic and Aston Villa striker has claimed that Calvert-Lewin will be relishing the chance to play against a potentially make-shift central defensive pairing:
“It’s a big, big boost.
“They’ve been all over the place, they’ve missed him.
“When West Ham played Liverpool a few weeks ago I said if I was Antonio I’d love to play against Henderson and Fabinho. A good centre-forward can run them ragged. West Ham didn’t do it, they played too conservatively.
“I don’t think Everton will be that conservative, I’ll think they’ll have a go. Especially with him up front, he’ll be relishing the fact he’s playing against midfield players.
“It will be a wonderful game because those three up front for Liverpool are different class.
“It’s just the defence and the keeper hasn’t been great.”
Calvert-Lewin can cause Liverpool problems
The prospect of having Calvert-Lewin potentially playing up against the likes of Jordan Henderson at the back is a mouth-watering one for the Toffees.
The England international has already scored no fewer than 18 goals and made a further four assists in just 25 appearances in total across all competitions so far in the 2020/21 term (Transfermarkt), and will be more than up for it against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

It is not just his goal-scoring ability that poses a real threat to the Reds, but his physical stature could really give them problems.
Nonetheless, as McAvennie points out, it would be a huge boost if the striker is able to start the match.
