James Rodriguez may not be fit for Everton’s next Premier League game against Newcastle United, according to Marca Colombia.
As per the news outlet, the attacking midfielder has been suffering an ongoing injury to the testicles following a challenge from Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk in the Merseyside derby 12 days ago.

However, Rodriguez was deemed fit enough to play against Southampton by Carlo Ancelotti as the Saints ran out rather comfortable 2-0 winners at St Mary’s Stadium thanks to goals from James Ward-Prowse and Che Adams.

Nonetheless, there has been a question mark as to whether the former Real Madrid star has fully recovered from the injury and whether he should play at St James’ Park on Sunday.
Rodriguez has been a great buy
Indeed, Rodriguez has arguably proved himself to be a great acquisition based on his stats so far this season. The 29-year old has scored three goals and supplied a further four assists in seven games in all competitions for the Goodison Park outfit (Transfermarkt).
He has certainly caught the eye of many in the footballing world, including former Celtic and West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie, who has branded him as ‘unbelievable’.
Rodriguez injury hopefully not serious
Fans of the Merseyside club will be hoping that the injury to Rodriguez is not a serious one at all and that the treatment that he is currently receiving will enable him to fully recover in time for the trip to Tyneside at the weekend.
