It is funny how one story can make one half of the Football Transfer Tavern happy and the other rather worried, and that is exactly what The Express have done.
The publication seem to think that Everton are keen on bringing Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck to the club this summer.
Whilst United fans are not exactly sorry to see the forward leave, Everton fans do not seem that enthused either.
The Toffees currently have Romelu Lukaku – who is one of the best around in terms of his goals – but that loan spell from Chelsea will end this summer and Toffees manager Roberto Martinez is keen to secure other options.
Welbeck has expressed a desire to leave Old Trafford, but as our regulars note over a pint, given his issue was with now former manager David Moyes, we think the forward may well change his mind!
Welbeck is certainly not world class, and sometimes looks more Fernando Torres than Robin van Persie, meaning that should another forward be brought in this summer, – perhaps Edinson Cavani – he would drop even further down the pecking order at the club.
