Responding to a 25-minute documentary courtesy of Everton’s official account surrounding director of football Marcel Brands, many Toffees supporters have been in awe of the Dutchman on social media – with a few of them going on to hint they are ‘proud‘ of Brands’ work behind the scenes.
The 57-year-old, who replaced Steve Walsh as the club’s director of football back in 2018, left PSV Eindhoven after eight years on the board for Merseyside – with this documentary showing insight into how his work behind the scenes earned him the nickname ‘architect‘. Brands, who was largely responsible for Everton’s influx of summer signings in 2019, with the likes of Alex Iwobi, Moise Kean, Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes joining the club on permanent deals, also managed to sell out of favour men Ademola Lookman and Nikola Vlasic for debatably decent fees (Transfermarkt) – potentially highlighting the solid business he has conducted since arriving at Goodison Park.
In response to the documentary, many Everton fans have drooled over Brands on social media – find all of their best comments down below.
Very insightful documentary about Marcel, with many first hand accounts of his qualities. Proud to have him as our director of football!
