Our Manchester United and Chelsea fans are feeling a little glum today with The Express quoting James Rodriguez as indicating he wants to stay with Real Madrid.
Our resident Blues, in particular, were already feeling down thanks to their loss last night at Tottenham and now they appear set to miss out on one of their reported (according to The Mirror) transfer targets, along with United.
United had also been linked with a move for the Colombian by The Express but Jose Mourinho will seemingly have to look elsewhere now as he tries to assemble a collection of stars at Old Trafford.
One of the stars of the 2014 World Cup, Rodriguez has not had it all his own way for Zinedine Zidane’s men but after scoring in Los Blancos’ 3-0 Copa Del Rey win over Sevilla last night, he now looks very happy to stay at the club.
The former AS Monaco man said:
“Real Madrid is the club I dreamed about. And here I am living that dream.
“I’m where I always wanted to be.”
These words surely come as a pretty significant blow to the Blues and Red Devils, then, and so it remains to be seen who both clubs go after now this target looks to have drawn a line under the speculation.
