The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing their vacant managerial position as Steve Bruce’s name has started coming up in conversation. The Villa manager looks set to leave Birmingham after losing the play-off final, leaving the club in financial disarray, however with Leeds links to Marcelo Bielsa, the Bruce rumours are somewhat disappointing.
Leeds United fans are hardly in a position to be picky over their next gaffer. The club sacked Paul Heckingbottom last Friday after the ex-Barnsley manager failed to have the desired impact at the club after being appointed in February. Now though, the club has been linked to both Claudio Ranieri and Bielsa as well as Bruce, with a number of fans extremely disappointed that they could end up with Bruce.
Things could have been so different for Bruce. The former Manchester United defender lost the playoff final 1-0 to Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham at Wembley, although if they’d won that game things would have been so different. Aston Villa wouldn’t be facing administration and Bruce would be safe in his job, planning for life in the Premier League, however, he’s now in a position of uncertainty and could end up in Yorkshire with the unforgiving task of trying to get Leeds United back into the Premier League.

Nooooo! You can’t tease us with #Bielsa and then end up with #Bruce! It’s like wanting a Coca-Cola and getting Aldi’s own brand! @andrearadri #lufc #mot #alaw @LUFC

Least if the next manager is Bruce we’d not have this issue if who would be next when he fails. Hughes, Allardyce, Hodgson, then rotary of blackwell, carver and gammon of the month as assistant. #lufc.

Bruce wouldn’t be a bad choice, better than what we had recently. #lufc

@andrearadri @LUFC Don’t appoint Bruce.

Club definitely keeping tabs on this to settle it haha. Thing is Bruce is better than we’ve had for years, but can we get better? Ranieri and bielsa links make everyone else seem a bit pap

The idea of Bruce instead of Biesla is similar to your Mum promising you a takeaway pizza but instead getting you one out of the freezer.
But maybe he could attract some of villa’s talent in cheap. #lufc

Bruce would be a far more logical choice than Bielsa.
Strong track record in the Championship, enjoyed a great spell with Hull and is an adept man-manager.
Bielsa would be high-cost and high-risk, and #lufc wouldn’t be able to attract players capable of executing his tactics.

Our local Leeds fans would under any other circumstances be thrilled with the news that Steve Bruce could be their next gaffer. However, the fans will be disappointed with the experienced Championship man considering the links the club have recently had to the likes of Marcelo Bielsa and Claudio Ranieri.
