West Ham supporters in the Transfer Tavern finally found their voice earlier this week after seeing their side register their first Premier League win of the season on Monday.

The Hammers lost their opening three league games of the campaign to heap even greater pressure on manager Slaven Bilic, but his players responded with a comfortable 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Huddersfield Town on Monday night, their first game of the season at the London Stadium.

And a 0-0 draw away at West Brom on Saturday saw the East London outfit get off the mark away from home as well, although they remain in the bottom three at this early stage of the campaign.

West Ham were one of several Premier League sides busy over the summer in a bid to strengthen their squad ahead of the campaign, but one man that got away from them was Borussia Dortmund forward Andre Schurrle, formerly of London rivals Chelsea.

The 26-year-old made the move to the Bundesliga outfit only last year but has struggled to make a meaningful impact at the Westfalenstadion, and was subsequently linked with a deadline day move to Bilic’s West Ham.

However, no deal materialised but that shouldn’t stop the Hammers going in for him again come the New Year, as here is what their potent front line could look like if the German World Cup winner does indeed move to East London…

RW: Marko Arnautovic

Deciding between Michail Antonio and Marko Arnautovic is far from easy, yet you sense that when fit, the latter would probably get the nod in Bilic’s front line.

The 28-year-old made a £20 million move to the London Stadium back in the summer following four years at Stoke City, for whom he played 126 matches, and in that time bagged 26 goals and laid on 32 assists.

There’s little doubt that the Austria international has the match-winning quality the Hammers may need over the course of a campaign, and although he’s yet to net for the East London outfit, and has actually been banned for a red card at Southampton, Arnautovic is exactly the sort of player you want in your side when he’s fit and in form.

LW: Andre Schurrle

German World Cup winner Andre Schurrle has already had a taste of English football, having spent 18 months at Chelsea between 2013 and 2015.

The 26-year-old scored 14 goals in 65 games for the Blues and earned himself a Premier League winner’s medal in his final year, despite leaving the club for Wolfsburg in the February of their title-winning campaign.

And his return to form at Wolfsburg saw Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund snap him up last year, although Schurrle has struggled to make a meaningful impact at the Westfalenstadion, and was ultimately linked with a move to West Ham last month.

No deal materialised however, yet with the sort of quality Schurrle possesses, and how well it could benefit the Hammers going forward, it’s a move they must look to reignite in January.

ST: Javier Hernandez

One man who did make the move from the Bundesliga to the Premier League over the summer was Javier Hernandez, who left Bayer Leverkusen to link up with West Ham.

The Mexico international scored 39 goals in just 76 games for the club during a two-year stint in Germany, this all after spending five years and winning two Premier League titles at Manchester United.

And he’s already bagged twice for the Hammers in his first four league matches to suggest that he could be a very shrewd addition to the squad for this season, although it still remains to be seen how exactly to get the best out of his abilities.

Nonetheless, Hernandez is an excellent striker and one, if he’s given half a chance, will often find the back of the net.
