This summer, Tottenham Hotspur have been quite quiet on the transfer front – well compared to this time last year, and we in the Football Transfer Tavern think that there could well be a couple of late additions to their squad before the transfer window slams shut.
Daniel Levy loves a bargain, and he also loves someone who has a sell on value for the club, and we think that there are a couple of really decent deals out there that can be done before September comes around.
New manager Mauricio Pochettino has been getting to grips with his squad and managed to steer them to an opening day win, and keep on like that and things will be looking up for the Lilywhites, who are hoping to challenge for the Champions League and potentially the title this season.
With that in mind, here are five late raids we think the club could pull off.

Alex Song
When a top quality player is available on a free loan for 12 months, you don’t make hard work of moving to sign him. Song may have been linked with both Manchester United and former club Arsenal, but Spurs have now entered the race for the midfielder and he is certainly a popular option here in the tavern for the Lilywhites.
Morgan Schneiderlin
Mauricio Pochettino knows the midfielder rather well and the Frenchman himself has made no secret of the fact he would be rather keen to make the move to north London – so much so, he is willing to snub Champions League side and FA Cup winners Arsenal. A final push could well be in order for the player who knows the Premier League well and could make a real difference to the Spurs midfield.
Samuel Eto’o
The veteran forward is keen to stay in London and crucially, is available on a free.
He may not have scored away from Stamford Bridge last season, but at home he can be lethal and vitally he is a winner. He also brings bags of experience to the dressing room and could well be a great swoop for Spurs ahead of deadline day.
Memphis Depay
After rejecting the chance of a new contract, Depay seems to be moving closer and closer to White Hart Lane. The Dutch winger, who was rather impressive during the World Cup for the Netherlands, has told PSV that he will not put pen to paper on a new deal and is eyeing a move to the Premier League, either to Manchester United or Spurs, to further his career.
Javier Hernandez
The forward is a natural goal poacher and Manchester United would be far more likely to sell him to Spurs than say one of their rivals for the title. The north London side could well do with a forward in the mould of a Defoe and the Mexican is looking for first team football in a team that is going somewhere with a manager who has a vision. It could be the perfect fit.
