FIVE ‘late raids’ Liverpool should consider

Edinson CavaniLiverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up with interest as our landlord asks them who they think Brendan Rodgers should be looking to bring into the club before the transfer window slams shut.

It comes as no shock to, well just about anyone, that the majority of Reds fans are naming forwards, and world class ones at that.

To replace Luis Saurez, the fans want nothing but the best and luckily for them, they have been linked with a couple in the last few weeks.

Without further ado, here are the five names we think could well be on their way to Anfield to help the Reds with their title challenge and to go one better this season

Radamel Falcao

Radamel Falcao

Dare to dream may be the most apt phrase here. Brendan Rodgers is desperate for a world class signing to add to his squad and has been chasing the Monaco forward. Falcao meanwhile is evidently keen on Real Madrid but as we know, shocks can happen and moves can surprise us all. Reds fans should not give up on Falcao just quite yet.

Ezequiel Lavezzi

Ezequiel Lavezzi

The PSG front man has been linked with a move to Anfield for a fair bit of time now and after contract extensions with the Ligue 1 side broke down, it seems that Brendan Rodgers could well go back and revisit the Lavezzi deal once again. Liverpool are chasing a top quality forward signing and Lavezzi is versatile enough to slot right in.

Edinson Cavani

Another top class forward finds himself on the list but as one of our punters notes, who else do Liverpool really need?

Cavani has been linked with a move away from the Parc Des Princes all summer and Liverpool have now made a second enquiry for him. They have the cash and Cavani wants to leave. One to watch?

Sergio Romero

Sergio Romero

The Reds are in the market for another goalkeeper and Romero will cost them a paltry £1.6 million quid. Ideal for a backup and for someone who could play in the cup competitions.

As we know, keepers can get injured and with Pepe Reina long gone, Brendan Rodger is keen to bring in a second option who he can rely on – and who could even challenge number one Mingolet and keep him on his toes.

Mauro Icardi

Mauro Icardi

He is young, talented and would have a good sell on value should a team like, well, Barcelona come calling for him. Given the Suarez sized chunk taken out of the Liverpool forward line, it would seem wise to bring in a top notch goal scorer and the Reds have been linked with Icardi enough to make us think this could be a deal Rodgers wants to turn to.
