Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern came crashing back down to earth at the weekend as Fulham beat them at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies had been flying in recent times after beating Huddersfield and Brighton and drawing to Reading leaving them looking good for the title but the Cottagers turned up and gave them a reality check.
Certainly, then, a far from ideal weekend for the Magpies, though they remain top of the league, and things became a little more amusing as a whole for them when it was confirmed Steve McClaren had been sacked by Derby.
Many Newcastle fans blame the former England manager for their relegation last season and so they were certainly pleased to see him come unstuck after a dire run of form with the Rams in recent times.
