The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been responding to a story in The Star (via The Chronicle), that Floyd Mayweather could put in a bid to buy Newcastle United off of Mike Ashley. The 41-year-old has previously shown his love for the City after visiting on his undefeated tour last year, but could now become affiliated with the Toon through their beloved football club.
Newcastle fans propping our bar up currently find themselves in the middle of a relegation battle. A couple of good results in the last few weeks has slashed the bookies’ odds on Newcastle’s survival but there is still work to be done for Rafa Benitez at St James Park. The Magpies currently sit 13th and four points above the drop zone, as a number of clubs above and below them are still scrambling for points to avoid the drop.
If the club manages to stay up this season, as is looking more and more likely, it will come as a huge shock to our resident Geordies that boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather, has supposedly shown interest in buying out the club. Mike Ashley has made a number of attempts to sell the club over the last few years but has been unable to come to an agreement with any potential buyers. The fans of the club have publicly declared that Ashley is not welcome at their club and the news of Mayweather’s interest could spark some excitement among the fans.

Everything about this article is pure cringe. From the caption of ‘Brawl Boy’ to the shameless link of Cristiano Ronaldo. How people get paid for this genuinely angers me.
