Glasgow Rangers: Balogun returns to full training

Glasgow Rangers have received a massive boost ahead of their match against Hamilton this weekend, as Leon Balogun has confirmed that he has returned to training.

The 32-year-old signed on a free transfer earlier this summer and, following injuries to Nikola Katic and a lack of match fitness for Filip Helander, he was thrust straight into the starting line-up. His impact was immediate – the Gers kept clean sheets in his first two league matches, and they hadn’t conceded in the third, against St. Johnstone, at half-time. Unfortunately, at that point, the Nigeria international was forced off and hasn’t played since.

There is good news for the Ibrox outfit, though. Late on Thursday night, Balogun shared a photo of himself on Twitter confirming that he is back in full training. Whilst it remains to be seen whether Steven Gerrard immediately puts him back in his starting XI – after all, Helander has since come in to the fold and the Gers still haven’t shipped a single strike – the £720,000-valued man (as per Transfermarkt) can, at the very least, provide the boss with another option.
