Glasgow Rangers: Kai Kennedy joins Inverness on loan

Glasgow Rangers youngster Kai Kennedy has completed a six-month loan move to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Kennedy has been continually linked with a move away from Ibrox during this transfer window – it has been said that he has turned down a new contract with the 54-time Scottish champions, and that he could be on his way out of the door permanently.

However, in the end, the 18-year-old has settled for a short-term spell in the Scottish Championship instead, despite previous interest from the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Kennedy is a highly-rated player in Glasgow – quite clearly given the names of the clubs eyeing him – but it seems that he is not in Steven Gerrard’s plans for this campaign. So far, he has made just one single first team appearance, and this is a campaign that is hugely important for the Gers as they look for a first piece of major silverware since 2011.

Gerrard has hit out at ‘egos‘ in the club’s academy, and that may have something to do with this temporary move away from the Gers. A lack of playing time is reportedly why Kennedy will not put pen to paper on a new deal – this is the teenager’s chance to prove that he deserves to be a part of the first-team squad under the former Liverpool captain.
