According to Football Insider, Glasgow Rangers have made an approach for Newcastle United’s Jacob Murphy.
The Gers are said to be interested in the 25-year-old, who spent last season out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

A deal is some way off, but the Ibrox outfit are said to have made it clear that they want to take the winger north of the border. It also states that any move could depend on the future of Ryan Kent, who has been linked with a switch to Leeds United.
The Toon spent a rather big £12m on Murphy to take him from Norwich City to St. James’ Park, but it would be wrong to say that he has repaid that fee. He has managed a disappointing one goal and three assists in 41 games for the Magpies, and whilst he did manage nine strikes and six assists last term with the Owls, they are far from exhilarating numbers.

The report doesn’t indicate whether Murphy would be seen as a replacement for £3.15m-valued Kent – as per Transfermarkt – but if that were to be the case, then it would be a grave error from Ross Wilson and co – there is no indication, given his previous form, that he could come in for a player who has started on fire this term by scoring three times in his first five matches. Steven Gerrard will be hoping it is a decision he does not have to make.
