Glasgow Rangers: Gers revive talks for Bongani Zungu

According to The Scotsman, Glasgow Rangers have revived talks for Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu.

The Gers have continually been linked to the South Africa international, with it even being said that the 27-year-old had completed a medical at Ibrox.

The speculation appeared to go quiet, but it now seems that the Gers are to re-enter talks for Zungu. He is valued at £3.6m by the French side, but that price could be lowered as the transfer window is not far from closing and the player’s contract runs out next year.

Steven Gerrard has maintained that he would like to take another midfielder to Ibrox, and it seems that Zungu remains one of the top targets. That is understandable – he has made 52 Ligue 1 appearances during his career, whilst he has also picked up 24 caps for his country.

The previous fee may have been an issue, but if the Gers can get him at a bargain price then it may just be the perfect deal with so little time before the window slams shut. Ross Wilson needs to move quickly to solve one of Gerrard’s problem positions.
