Glasgow Rangers have confirmed that Stephen Kelly has signed a new contract and will now move on loan to Ross County for the upcoming campaign.
The 20-year-old spent the previous season at Ayr United on a temporary basis and was so impressive in his 33 games in all competitions that he even picked up their Young Player of the Year award, which was selected by the fans.

He has now put pen to paper on a three-year contract that will see him stay with the Ibrox club until 2023. He will continue his development with Ross County and he will hope that this is another step on his road to becoming a first-team regular at Ibrox.

The club announced the news on their official Twitter page, which led to plenty of reaction from the ‘Gers supporters – one fan even called him the “next Barry Ferguson”. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the matter and you can see some of the best responses below:

Stephen has looked like one of the most impressive players out on loan last season with Ayr, a real key player for them. This is a great step up to play top flight football, and the lengthy contract extension shows faith that he can make the breakthrough for us.
