Former Glasgow Rangers target Konstantinos Tsimikas has completed a move to Liverpool from Olympiakos.
The Gers had been linked with the left-back only last December as they looked to find an alternative to Borna Barisic on that side of their back four – at the time, Steven Gerrard’s only real options were Andy Halliday and Jon Flanagan, both of whom were far from comfortable in that position.

Even then, though, the price tag was always going to be a problem for the Ibrox outfit, as he was valued at £8.5m by the club, and his stock has continued to rise since then. The Reds have now parted with £11.7m to take him to Anfield, with the three-time Greece international signing a five-year deal with his new employers.
Of course, part of the Gers’ interest in Tsimikas is likely to be due to the fact that Barisic was linked with a move to Roma (Calciomercato via Roma Press), for example – they wouldn’t have parted with such a fee for him to play back-up for too long. With the Croatian reportedly keen to stay in Glasgow, though, and with Calvin Bassey completing a free transfer to move to the Gers, there is little more need for another player in that position.

Still, Gerrard is likely to be eager to watch his development with the Premier League champions, and will want to be proved right with his interest in the 24-year-old.
