Glasgow Rangers are said to have opened up talks with Amiens over Bongani Zungu, according to journalist Joe Crann.

The ‘Gers have been linked with the South Africa international and now it has been said that the two clubs are in talks over the 27-year-old.

Crann says that Amiens are looking for between €4m (£3.6m) and €5m (£4.5m) for the player, who is currently stuck in his homeland due to a lack of flights.

This a step in the right direction for the ‘Gers – Zungu is a player with top-level experience in Ligue 1, whilst he has 24 caps to his name for his country.
However, €5m (£4.5m) could prove to be slightly too big a fee for the midfielder – that would cost them more than what they paid for Ianis Hagi and Alfredo Morelos combined, with the duo costing £3m and £1.08m respectively. Considering his position – Steven Gerrard’s squad is already congested in the middle of the park – he may not be worth that fee.

The struggles of getting back to France could also pose problems to any potential deal, so even though talks are ongoing, this could be a difficult one to secure.
