The Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted to hear the news (posted on Twitter) that Jonathan Kodjia took another step towards full recovery as he played a scheduled 45 minutes in a friendly game at Bodymoor Heath today. Kodjia is one of Villa’s most dangerous goal threats and the news will be sure to improve the mood of our resident Villa fans.
Aston Villa’s injury list is getting shorter and shorter, as Alan Hutton and now Jonathan Kodjia are making steady returns to football. Villa have missed their frontman in the last few weeks as they fell to defeats against QPR and Bolton in games that the club and the fans would’ve expected to win. However, as the club look more and more likely to settle for a playoff place at the end of the season they’ll need their Ivorian striker fit and won’t want to rush his return.

The Villa Park faithful will be hopeful of a Premier League return after suffering the last two season’s in the Championship following the club’s relegation in 2016 that stripped them of their Premier League ever-present tag. Although if Steve Bruce can engineer a return to the top flight the Villa fans will be back where they believe the club belongs. For this to happen, they’ll need to have star striker Jonathan Kodjia fit and firing as soon as possible.
You can see what the local Villains’ think about Kodjia’s slow return here:
Need @J_Kodjia back for the play offs . We have done great but we have missed him in the games like bolton. jimmy can produce a goal out of nothing and even when the rest of the team doesnt perform. #utv
