Rangers supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern in the last few weeks after seeing their side begin 2018 with three successive victories, the latest a 3-0 success over Fraserburgh in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
Graeme Murty’s men began the New Year with a vital 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Ibrox on January 24, a result which moved them above the Dons into second place in the Scottish Premiership. The Gers then backed that up with a 2-1 success at Ross County on Sunday, before getting their Scottish Cup campaign underway with a routine 3-0 win over Highland League outfit Fraserburgh on Wednesday night, with Josh Windass’ hat-trick booking their place in the fifth round, where they will face Ayr United.
Consequently, there have been many delighted Rangers fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are eagerly anticipating their team’s clash with Hibernian this weekend, where Murty’s men will again seek to usurp Aberdeen in the table with victory against the Edinburgh-based side.
In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Gers supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports suggesting that influential ace Alfredo Morelos is seeking an improved contract at the club amid reported interest from the Chinese Super League.
Reports broke at the end of January that Beijing Renhe launched an £8 million bid for the 21-year-old, which was subsequently rejected by the Scottish giants, following what has been a fine start to life north of the border having netted 13 goals in 27 appearances for the Gers.
And reports suggest that Morelos is now hoping to improve his deal to that of a player worth over £8 million, in news which has stimulated quite a reaction from Rangers fans on Twitter.
And many feel that the Colombia star does indeed deserve an improved deal at the club…
