Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the new season kicking off with them facing Tottenham on the opening day.
For sure, then, it’s a real throwing in at the deep end for the Magpies on their return to the top flight with Spurs one of the most impressive sides around and for sure genuine title contenders.
The Magpies, though, have been quick to remind Spurs fans that their club were battered 5-1 last time they met in 2015/16 and, after Eric Dier handed them a warning – as per Lee Ryder on Twitter – the Geordies have reacted.
