The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern were struggling to understand how their side walked away from Switzerland with nothing to show for their efforts Wednesday night.
Although United were far from their best against FC Basel on matchday five in the Champions League, they created more than enough chances to comfortably win the game during the first-half. Marouane Fellaini and Marcos Rojo both hit the woodwork in the first-half and Romelu Lukaku saw his effort saved by Tomas Vaclik when he was through on goal in the 12th minute.

Despite the result in Switzerland, it would take a freak set of results to see United crash out of the competition in the group stage.
However, the Red Devils missed an excellent opportunity to progress as group winners on the night which would have disappointed Jose Mourinho.
The Manchester United manager stated that he could find little fault with his players’ performance on the night, other than their failure to find the back of the net, and his post-match interview was shared on the club’s official Twitter page after the match.

However, Mourinho’s views were not replicated by the majority of fans on Twitter who were far more critical in their analysis of the performance.
And Mourinho himself came in for plenty of criticism for his perceived negative tactics last night.
Here’s what the United fans had to say in response to the post…

When you have a coward manager who is more concerned about not losing that actually winning you will lose games you were meant to win right at the death. I am a United supporter of years but even I was happy Basel scored. Tired of all these premeditated draws. Jose won't last
