Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait for their season to get going now with under a week left to wait for their game against Tottenham.
The men from St. James’ Park have had plenty of time to gear up for the new campaign after their Championship win and now the aim has to be to try and get off to a flyer in the league.
Certainly, beating Spurs will be a real shot in the arm to kick this season off and many of the players will be hoping that the raucous 52,000 strong crowd will inspire them to victory.
Indeed, the new signings got to experience the stadium for the first time as Magpies players over the weekend – one of them being Javier Manquillo – who tweeted about just that experience as they beat Hellas Verona 2-0.
Here, then, is the best of the reaction as we close in on zero-hour in the top flight:
Nice to meet you St James’ Park. See you the next week with the start of the Premier League @NUFC
