Hull City have made an eye-catching start to life back in the Premier League, producing one of the opening weekend’s biggest surprises with a 2-0 victory over Manchester United at the MKM Stadium.
Semi Ajayi and summer arrival Nobel Mendy both found the net from set pieces as the Tigers immediately put three points on the board.
Hull will know one result will not be enough to guarantee their top-flight survival, though, and further recruitment remains a priority as they look to assemble a squad capable of competing across the entire campaign.
And another addition could now be getting closer.
Hull in Advanced Talks for Ansah
Hull City have stepped up their pursuit of Union Berlin striker Ilyas Ansah, with the newly promoted side reportedly in advanced negotiations over a permanent deal.
According to Sky Germany, Hull have tabled a €22 million offer for the 21-year-old, who they want to bring in on a long-term contract.
The proposal is now with Union Berlin after several days of discussions between the clubs. Previous approaches from Hull had reportedly been turned down, but the latest bid could represent a significant step towards an agreement.
Ansah is said to be keen on the move, which could help Hull’s chances of getting the deal over the line.
The striker joined Union from Paderborn for around €4 million last summer and made 33 league appearances during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring five goals and supplying one assist.
He has also represented Germany at youth level, recording five goals in 12 appearances for the U20s and making six appearances for the U21 side.
With Ansah reportedly interested in a switch to England, Hull will now hope their improved offer can convince Union Berlin to finally sanction his departure.
