Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are really looking forward to seeing their side in action later this afternoon against Chelsea.
The Toffees have enjoyed a strong start to proceedings this season in all competitions and they’ll certainly be relishing the chance to take on the champions.
Indeed, after beating Stoke on the opening day and getting a solid draw away at Manchester City, they qualified for the Europa League and now they’ll be eager to keep the momentum up this weekend.
For sure, then, the plan has to be for the Toffees to aim for the top six at the very least this year but we think if they sign this man they can aim for the top four – Olivier Giroud.
The French international has had a fair amount of critics during his time in the Premier League but, more often than not, he does come up with the goods when he’s needed.
Certainly, he’s the kind of player that needs to be one of the main men and he’d certainly be that at Everton as their main striker.
Indeed, he’s got the quality to help put most teams to the sword and with Everton well suited to having a powerful forward up top after the days of Romelu Lukaku, this potential deal seems like a good fit.
