The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to make another huge step towards collecting silverware with a commanding victory over Bristol City this evening.

Pep Guardiola’s City side have played some of the most scintillating football the Premier League has ever seen so far this season, as their enormous lead at the top of the table suggests. But all of City’s positive displays so far will be forgotten about in the years to come if they don’t legitimise their plaudits by winning multiple trophies this season.

With that being said, there is no doubt that Guardiola and his City side are taking the Carabao cup very seriously this season. The Citizens delight after recording victory over Leicester City in the quarterfinals was there for all to see, but they will be hoping to avoid their third penalty shootout of the campaign when they face Lee Johnson’s Bristol City.

In the previous round, the Robins pulled off one of the shocks of the competition so far by scoring a late winner to send City’s bitter-rivals and current-holders Manchester United crashing out at the quarter-final stage.

Guardiola will be eager to remind his players about Bristol’s heroics in the last round in order to guard against complacency tonight.

However, City’s manager would be wise to rotate his squad and allow a couple of his key players to rest and save themselves for their huge clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

With that being said, here are two City youngsters who will ensure City record victory over The Robins…

Tosin Adarabioyo

Nicolas Otamendi has been City’s most reliable and consistent defender this season, and they will need him to be fully fit and on top form to get a positive result against Liverpool on Sunday.

Eliaquim Mangala’s performances have been rather less convincing, so Guardiola should allow Adarabioyo to enjoy another first-team challenge in a high-pressure fixture.

Adarabioyo has looked confident and assured in his three first-team fixtures for the club this term, but he has yet to be tested in a high-pressure fixture.

The only way Adarabioyo will improve is through playing in high-calibre fixtures such as cup semi-finals, so he should be given a chance to take another step forward in his development from the outset this evening.

Brahim Diaz

City’s 18-year-old Spanish wonderkid looks a genuine talent for the future based on his limited appearances for City’s first-team so far.

Unlike plenty of other talented players at his age, Diaz has the blessing of being surrounded by the likes of De Bruyne, Silva and Sane, and their presence in the squad should prove to be a positive factor in catalysing his development.

Once again, Guardiola will have half an eye on the Liverpool match, so Diaz should be included to allow one of City’s first-team regulars to take a rest prior to the weekend.

Diaz has shown in previous appearances that he has no fear in driving at opponents with pace and trickery.

If he is able to replicate his best form this evening, then Bristol City will endure a torrid time trying to stop the little Spaniard.
