The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very impressed by their side’s recent transfer business. Though questions have been raised about their transfer dealings since the arrival of Sheikh Mansour, it’s easy to see that things have turned around over the last year or two.

Since the arrival of Pep Guardiola, in particular, we’ve clearly seen a shift in the transfer policy at the Etihad, with the Spaniard keen to invest in young, technically gifted players.

One player that, undoubtedly, falls under that banner is Ederson. Though a goalkeeper, the Brazilian is more than capable with the ball at his feet, and his brilliant passing and distribution range has been crucial to Man City’s progress this season.

There’s even an argument to suggest that the goalkeeper was the missing piece at Man City, as the Citizens’ goal difference has increased exponentially since his arrival.

Indeed, it’s fair to say that he’s made a massive impact in the Premier League, and if Man City can find a player or two that can match his level of impact then they could, somehow, get even better next season.

With that said, if Man City sign these 2 players, they could both have a bigger impact than Ederson next season…

Fred

In the summer, Man City needed a goalkeeper – and Ederson was brought in to plug the gap.

This summer, Man City need a central midfielder – and Fred could be just the ticket.

The Citizens lack depth in the middle of the park, with Fernandinho their only real option in the role at present. That simply needs to change.

Fred has been a regular for Shakhtar Donetsk as of late, and he impressed against Man City earlier this year.  He’d add some real quality.

 Riyhad Mahrez

Riyad Mahrez has been nothing short of a revelation at Leicester City since his arrival, with the Algerian, alongside the likes of Jamie Vardy, proving to be pivotal in the Foxes’ rise up the Premier League.

Though he hasn’t quite hit the heights of Leicester’s Premier League winning season over the last year or so, his talent can’t be doubted.

He’s got incredible technical ability, and you’d imagine that a manager like Pep Guardiola would be able to make him even better.
