Image: Is this more important to Chelsea’s title surge than Conte’s 3-4-3 formation?

After picking up the London manager of the year award last night, Antonio Conte’s name has been largely celebrated by the Chelsea fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern even more so of late.

The Italian has restored a winning feeling in west London this season, taking a team of title flops to top of the Premier League after only an ever so slightly sticky patch earlier this season, with his switch to 3-4-3 in October cited as one of the major reasons behind his success.

However, an interesting stat has emerged from Opta that seems to indicate the system deployed by the former Juventus coach is not the only reason behind their table-topping form. Curiously, the Blues are the only team in the Premier League to have used all three substitutions in every game this season, making a total of 78 changes in 26 games.

Relying on his squad, Conte has made full use of the riches available to him to restore those in SW6 to the top of the English elite.
