Despite their woeful performances in Europe, Celtic have put together a superb run of form in the league over the last few weeks and have won five games in a row to push them back up the table.
With so many teams strengthening over the summer, Celtic’s pursuit of their 10th consecutive league title looks as though it’s going to be a lot tougher than in recent years.
The Glasgow club usually makes a fairly big statement in the transfer market but last year Rodgers wasn’t given his usually backing. Crucially for Celtic, they lost ket striker Moussa Dembele with the striker joining Ligue 1 side Lyon.
Losing someone of his quality was always going to be tough to replace but in club record signing, Odsonne Edouard, Celtic have a striker that could well replicate Dembele’s impact on the side. With the Frenchman starting to catch form, Dundee could be in for a long night.
Signed for £9 million last year, Edouard became the man to replace Chris Sutton as Celtic’s most expensive signing.
Last year the striker remained in the shadow of star man Dembele, and only managed to score six goals in 19 games in the league. The former PSG man was often used as a replacement to Dembele and therefore he never managed to get into a rhythm last year.
This season, however, he has seemingly been handed the reins as the club’s star attacker and has scored four goals in eight appearances in the league. The French striker is a talented finisher and is great with the ball at his feet.
In his last two games, Edouard scored three goals while also grabbing an assist and with that in mind, Dundee should be worried tonight.
Dundee’s defence has been terrible this season and has so far conceded 23 goals in the league and with Edouard in such good form, Celtic could have a striker that could fire them to the top.
