Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern really can’t wait until the new season kicks off with them expecting their side to seriously challenge at the top of the league.
The men from Villa Park have not had the best few seasons in recent times but there is a renewed sense of optimism around the club at the moment and so they’ll be looking to to use that to spur them on.
For sure, then, the players will need to step up and meet the high expectations of the Villa faithful and captain James Chester is certainly one man who will need to do that.
The skipper enjoyed a good campaign last year at the heart of defence and many will want to see more of that from him in 2017/18, with the club posting a video of his highlights from last year on Twitter.
