Our resident Manchester United supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern have been discussing their 2015/16 campaign.
The Red Devils have endured a relatively disappointing season by their standards in the Premier League, and are battling to finish in the top four of the top-flight.
Louis van Gaal’s have achieved a spot in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace, but even if LVG wins the cup, there is no guarantee he’ll still be in the job come next season, with Mourinho in prime position for the job.
A handful of names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford of late, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Raphael Varane being earmarked with a move to the Manchester giants.
Our punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern have compiled a DREAM Man United XI for next season with Mourinho at the helm, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Raphael Varane.

GK – David de Gea
Despite interest from Real Madrid it looks as though United’s Player of the Year, will be staying at Old Trafford next season.
The Spain international has been head and shoulders above any other United player during the 2015/16 campaign, and is among the very best goalkeepers in the world.
The Red Devils will hope to challenge for the title next season and that will be important when it comes to keeping de Gea around for the following season.
If the club can get back into contention for major honours then the Spaniard will see no real reason to want to move.
RB – Dani Carvajal
The Spain international is thriving following a regular run in the Real Madrid team and he is attracting interest from several teams on the continent.
The Red Devils would be just as well to target one of the best right-backs in world football, although it might take a bit of persuading to tempt Madrid into a sale.
The Spaniard’s form has contributed to Real Madrid reaching the Champions League final for the second time in three years and he would be a really assured signing for United to ponder.
CB – Raphael Varane
The Real Madrid central defender has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, and Manchester United will be right at the front of the queue.
The French central defender has been in good form for Real Madrid this season and the 23-year-old is set for a big future in the game.
Having played for Madrid under former boss Jose Mourinho, it looks a certainty that Varane will make the move to Old Trafford should Mourinho get the manager’s job at the end of the season.
CB – Chris Smalling
The England central defender has been one of Manchester United’s standout performers this season, and he has really started to show his worth to the team.
United have kept 15 clean sheets when Smalling has played in the side and it is difficult to imagine him being replaced in the side next season.
Smalling will cap off a tremendous season by travelling to France, with the England squad for Euro 2016, where he is expected to marshal the Three Lions’ back four.
The defender has several years left ahead of him and this season needs to be just the beginning for Smalling.
LB – Luke Shaw
The youngster was set for a big season in the red of Manchester United until his season was curtailed by a horrendous leg break suffered in the Champions League.
Shaw is now on the mend and he will be a big player for the club for next season and in years to come, once he is over this latest setback.
The left-back will be a big miss for England at this summer’s Euros and they too will also be praying that he gets back to his best as soon as possible.
CM – Arturo Vidal
It was reported this week that the Chilean midfielder was in line for a move to Chelsea in the summer, but I think United are crying out for a player of his ilk.
The tough tackling midfielder has the complete package and can defend from the middle of the park as well as chipping in with goals in the final third too.
If Louis van Gaal is still in charge at Old Trafford beyond this summer, he should see Vidal as a vital part of his team moving forward.
Difficult to imagine him leaving Bayern Munich after just one season but you never know in this day and age.
CM – Bastian Schweinsteiger
The German midfielder has not really lived up to the hype during the current campaign although a series of injuries haven’t helped his case.
United will be hoping that the Germany international will be able to stay fit for the entire season next time around, with the club hoping that he can still be a big player for the club.
The Red Devils have missed his presence in the middle of the park at time during this season, and his return for the next campaign would be a big plus.
AMR – Neymar
Admittedly Manchester United will need to smash the British transfer record in order to pull off this coup but the Barcelona man would be a superb signing.
The Brazilian can play in a number of forward roles and his arrival would be a big signing, not just for Manchester United but also for the Premier League on the whole.
It would take a massive bid to lure the player away from Barcelona but one club who are capable of doing that is Manchester United, who despite their poor form this season are still one of the biggest clubs in the world.
AMC – Juan Mata
The little Spaniard has been wasted at times this season by Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, with the player still having so much more to offer.
Mata has played okay when he has been called upon but a regular run in the side is what is required if the club are to get the very best results out of Mata.
The ex-Chelsea man can be used as a winger but he operates much better when called upon to do a job behind the striker, something which the Red Devils must do more often.
AML – Anthony Martial
In good time I think that Martial will play for several years at Manchester United in a role best designed for a top class centre forward, but for now his short-term future looks to be out on the wing.
Martial has taken to the Premier League with aplomb in his maiden campaign and things really can only get better for the Frenchman, given his age and undoubted talent.
The striker’s winner in the FA Cup semi-final over Everton was typical of the player and his finishing is extremely impressive.
For now however I think he will continue to operate out wide and it is a position where he is equally dangerous.
ST – Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The charismatic Sweden international will become a free agent this summer and clubs from far and wide are expected to come flocking for his signature.
Manchester United look the most likely to get the chance to sign him and given his high wage demands, they will probably be one of a few clubs who can realistically afford him.
The Premier League remains one of the boxes which the striker hasn’t ticked off and he will be desperate to prove a point to those who doubt his ability to perform in the English top flight.
