The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling pretty cautious about the second-half of the season…
The Citizens have not had the best first half of the season, with a fantastic start marred by a number of convincing defeats towards the end of the calender year – proving to Pep Guardiola that his ride with Man City is going to be a far more difficult than his previous jobs.
The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been pretty critical this season, with their commitment to Guardiola coming under increasing pressure as results continue to worsen – with his approach to defending drawing the ire of those in the Tavern in particular.
Offensively, the Citizens have looked incredible – with De Bruyne and Aguero, in particular, impressing – but defensively, it has been a different story. John Stones has been under the microscope all season long, whilst his defensive partners have also rarely covered themselves in glory.
As a result, it was widely expected that Guardiola would look to improve his disappointing defence, but if a report by the Independent is to be believed – the Spaniard seemingly has no plans to bring in any reinforcements in January.
The Independent are reporting that Guardiola is instead focusing on a summer move for Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez – with the Spaniard clearly feeling that his squad is good enough to see him through the remainder of the 2016/17 season.
This has come as a surprise to the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom were hoping for a few big money signings this month. They fear that their side is only going to worsen as fixture congestion continues to worsen – and so they are seriously concerned that their side is going to burn out when the title fight begins to truly heat up.
Our landlord thinks that Pep Guardiola could be making a huge mistake with this one, especially when you consider how good Hernandez is. Take a look at what he can do below…
