Glasgow Rangers are reportedly ‘interested’ in hijacking their Old Firm rivals’ move for striker Cho Gue-Sung.
The Lowdown: Busy window?
The Ibrox outfit look set to have a busy January window, as they look to give new manager Michael Beale the reinforcements that he needs to try and catch up to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.
They are currently nine points behind their city rivals, and have recently been linked with moves for the likes of Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell and Everton’s Tom Davies.
The Latest: Cho interest
Taking to Twitter, Football Scotland journalist Mark Hendry has revealed that the Gers are now ‘interested’ in signing Celtic target Cho, even though the Hoops have a £3m offer on the table for the Jeonbuk Hyundai striker:
“Rangers ARE interested in Celtic target Cho Gue-Sung but no bid lodged yet. Hoops have £3mil offer on table.”
The Verdict: Morelos replacement?
Alfredo Morelos has been heavily linked with a move away from the Light Blues, and so Cho could come in as his replacement.
Hailed as a ‘real handful for defenders‘ by journalist Pete O’Rourke, the South Korea international was impressive at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he scored twice and helped them reach the knockout stages of the tournament.
His goals were lauded by both Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, while the six-foot-two colossus boasts 51 strikes in 136 games at club level in his homeland.
However, it has recently been reported that Minnesota United have made an offer to Jeonbuk for Cho, so the Teddy Bears may have to act fast if they want to secure his signature.
