West Ham United are thought to be in the transfer market for a new striker this January, however, they could see one depart from the London Stadium as well.
It is understood that the Mexico international would welcome a move back to mainland Europe in an effort to get regular first-team football once again.
The former Manchester United striker joined the Hammers from Bayer Leverkusen, where he excelled in the Bundesliga during his two-year spell.
He has since struggled at the London Stadium outfit and Manuel Pellegrini does not appear to favour the 30-year-old in a starting role.
With Marko Arnautovic ahead of him, Hernandez has made just two starts this season, with six further appearances from the substitutes bench.
The Verdict:
It does not come as a surprise that Hernandez wants to be playing regular first-team football and is keen to leave the London Stadium this winter.
The 30-year-old has shown that he can be a class forward, however, he has struggled to make a real impact during his time in the capital.
However, it remains to be seen if Pellegrini will allow him to leave in January, as it is likely the Chilean will need to find a replacement before any deal can be sanctioned.
