The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping Jose Mourinho will instigate a significant summer clear out during the coming months to ensure his side demonstrate a marked improvement next season.
Our resident Red Devils faithful have been drowning their sorrows since their side lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup Final on Saturday afternoon – a result which capped off a disappointing campaign for the club.
The defeat has further legtimised concerns amongst the United supporters that they could be set to face an extended period of subordination to their local-rivals Manchester City, but they believe Mourinho is capable of instigating a significant turnaround in the club’s fortunes if he oversees a dramatic overhaul in the personnel of his squad this summer.
The supporters are eager for plenty of players to leave Old Trafford this summer and, if Twitter is anything to go by, one man who they will be particularly happy to wave goodbye to is Marouane Fellaini.
According to reports in The Daily Mirror, Fellaini moved out of his Cheshire home this weekend, with interest from abroad reportedly intensifying as his contract edges closer to expiry.
Considering the 80-time capped Belgium international is 30-years-old and has been at United for 5 years, it would be no surprise to see him depart the club on a free transfer this summer.
And after watching City dominate the Premier League with such ominous superiority, it’s even less of a surprise that the United supporters want to see him leave the club to make way for a centre-midfielder of genuine quality.
