Aston Villa will be delighted to see the instant impact Dean Smith has had on the team, with their promotion bid well and truly back on.
Many were starting to fear the worse under Steve Bruce and when Dean Smith took a while to produce positive results, fans were inclined to think it wasn’t to be their season again.
Now though, even in 11th place, fans are optimistic in thinking that Villa can still challenge for promotion this season.
Nevertheless, to get to that dream, they need to improve their starting 11, beginning their business by signing a new right-back.
With Alan Hutton out of contract in the summer, Aston Villa would be very crafty to plan a bid to sign Everton’s Jonjoe Kenny.
Kenny, who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt, is a player still fighting for a place with the Everton team but now that Seamus Coleman is back fit, he has been cast aside yet again.
The 21-year-old has made four Premier League appearances this season and is definitely equipped to play at top flight standard, making it even better for Villa if they can pull it off.
He can also play as a centre-back, another position of need for Aston Villa. However, his main and favourite position is right-back, where he equally helps in defence and attack, stopping attacks and then creating his own.
There is no doubting Alan Hutton’s continuous efforts for the club but he isn’t getting any younger, whereas Jonjoe Kenny is eagerly awaiting a club where he can get regular game-time.
Kenny is a hard worker and would only improve Aston Villa’s chances at success this season.
