It’s fair to say Tottenham caused quite a stir when they sacked Mauricio Pochettino and replaced him with Jose Mourinho, and almost three months and 19 matches later it is still unclear whether that was a good decision from the board.
The former Manchester United boss has steadied the ship and mostly got results back on track, achieving qualification from the Champions League group stage as well as overseeing Spurs’ progression to the FA Cup fifth round.
However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for Mourinho. A defensive record of 24 goals conceded in those 19 games marks improvement on 30 in 17 games under Pochettino, and the introduction of Japhet Tanganga has proved an astute decision, but defeats have also been fairly frequent – with five in total and his tactical approach in the loss against Liverpool drew criticism.
Ultimately, the Portuguese boss will likely be judged on whether he can secure silverware or a top four finish, both of which remain realistic goals, hence why some fans feel optimistic with him in charge.

Supporters have been given their assessment on the last few weeks by describing their views in three words, though not everyone is impressed with the work done by Mourinho thus far, as the following reactions show.
