Kevin Stewart would be a great January signing for Rangers

Rangers have, already this season, made massive strides into becoming the Scottish giants they once were, now they’re under the control of Steven Gerrard.

The Liverpool legend has made an instant impact at Ibrox, leading many to believe that this year or soon after, silverware could return to their famous ground.

Having spent a few months at the helm, Gerrard will be aware of his team’s strengths and flaws, as well as knowing that a player like Hull City’s Kevin Stewart would be a brilliant addition to their team.

Stewart, who is valued at £3.1 million on Transfermarkt, was previously a target for the Gers and should definitely be one again.

The 25-year-old is a versatile midfielder, equally able to defend and attack for his team. With just two starts in the Championship this season though, Stewart’s talents have been overlooked by Hull.

The Tigers are currently in the relegation zone and could do with any funds they can get their hands on, to rebuild their team in January.

That’s where selling Kevin Stewart may come in and Rangers have to be ready for that possibility.

Since moving permanently from Liverpool last summer, Stewart has made 31 appearances in his two full seasons with Hull.

At 25, he is fast approaching his peak years in the game, which instead of being spent battling relegation, Stewart could be helping Rangers push forward domestically and in the European competitions.

In the Gers’ midfield, Stewart could give Rangers yet another brilliant option and that squad depth is what could potentially allow them to challenge Celtic all the way this season.
