Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are desperate for their side to push for a European place in the next campaign. Although, this could prove difficult if they fail to enjoy a successful few weeks before the season starts.
The Magpies will be doing their upmost to try and enjoy a strong start to the campaign, but this could all depend on how they close the summer transfer window.
Indeed, Newcastle have made an incredibly slow start to the transfer window as teams surrounding them are all bolstering their squads, so the Magpies have lots of ground to make up in a short space of time.
Sadly, Rafa Benitez’s side could find themselves flirting with the possibility of relegation once again in the next campaign if they’re not careful, with players possibly seeing the club’s lack of ambition as a reason to move away.

Jamaal Lascelles has been linked with a move away for a long period of time now, but recently it’s looked as if he’s set to stay at St James’ Park for next season.
Although, with the Magpies making no real strides on the transfer front and big clubs possibly being forced into making a move as the window comes to a close, he could be on his way out this summer.
Indeed, losing the Englishman would be crushing for the Tyneside club as he is their leader and has established himself as one of the best central defenders in England.
Former Toon man Andros Townsend has been linked with a return to Tyneside, in what would be a hugely exciting move. Indeed, despite leaving the club upon relegation, the England man is still looked upon rather favourably by the Toon Army.
In an ideal world, the Crystal Palace man would make a return to excite supporters, though Mike Ashley has never really been one to put his hand in his pocket. We’ve been here before with the Toon and Townsend, so those in black and white should expect heartache. Anything less is a bonus.
