Leeds fans on Twitter gutted with Pontus Jansson injury

Whilst it’s true that Leeds United fans can often be accused of overreacting when things go wrong, you can forgive them for getting a little worked up this week. On Saturday they fell to a humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of West Brom before just three days later learning that their star centre-back, Pontus Jansson has sustained an ankle injury, via The Yorkshire Evening Post.

Fortunately for The Whites, Jansson won’t have to worry about missing a Leeds game for a while as the November international break is currently upon us. Instead, it will be Sweden’s two matches against Turkey and Russia in the UEFA Nations league that the commanding defender will be missing. The fact that he’s pulled out of the Sweden squad is still awful news, though, and the fans will be hoping it’s a minor scare and that he’ll return for Bristol City.

That game in the Championship comes on November 24th and gives Jansson just under two weeks to get back to fitness from his layoff. The injury was suffered during the loss to West Brom and whilst Jansson bravely played on, it looks like that decision could come back to haunt him as he could leave The Whites without an orthodox centre-back option to partner captain Liam Cooper when they return to Championship action.
