Leeds United battled it out with Wigan Atheltic yesterday in Sunday’s only Championship fixture. The Whites battled from 1-0 down to win 2-1 at the DW Stadium, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the battling midfield performance from Adam Forshaw, even though the midfielder had been taken ill and missed training just a day before the match.

A story in The Yorkshire Evening Post confirms that Forshaw suffered a bout of sickness less than 24 hours before he was due to start against Wigan, and he wasn’t about to let that stop him from turning up and shining to help The Whites hold onto top spot in the Championship for another week. The 27-year-old has struggled for game time this season, and having taken his opportunity yesterday he will likely be given a lot more chances now.
Marcelo Bielsa will undoubtedly be delighted with his midfielder for the commitment and mentality that he showed to overcome his illness and be keep his place in the starting line-up. As it happened, Forshaw was superb during the clash and whilst he failed to register a goal or an assist, he set the tempo and allowed those in front of him to shine with his ability to win the ball back and recycle it on for teammates to use.

The Whites will hope that Forshaw will only get better when he feels 100% again and will back him to kick on and help his side achieve their long-awaited promotion.
