Leeds United: Fans react to Meslier’s performance against Crystal Palace

Illan Meslier

Leeds United suffered defeat at Crystal Palace on Saturday, and Illan Meslier, whose loan was made permanent this summer, put in a display that was not received kindly by the Elland Road faithful.

One of the goals scored by the South London side was a freak own goal, but Meslier’s positioning could have been much better. This saw @LUFCMOTcom ask supporters of the club whether the goalkeeper should have done better. The supporters responded in droves with a resounding answer.

It had been a fairly decent to the season start for the young Frenchman. He has featured eight times, kept two clean sheets and been part of three wins. Meslier had also made an impressive 22 saves going into the Palace fixture (Premier League).

In the end Leeds ended up conceding four goals, and that now means Meslier has conceded eight goals in his last two Premier League games. He will have to put in some more confident performances after the international break to make sure Leeds fans are on back on his side.

Here is how Leeds fans are reacting to Meslier’s performance:

Should Meslier have done better for that goal or was that just a freak deflection?

Yes, If that had of happened with Kiko in goal people would of been going crazy with him about it!!

— christian (@xtian1) November 7, 2020

His reaction was slow if he was quicker he might have stopped it going in

Very poor goalkeeping. Half asleep

He abaolutely should stop that. No question

Mealier’s heads gone. He’ll fight back I’m sure. Great performance still, just a freak game!

— Daniel Fattorini💙💛 (@DMFattorini) November 7, 2020

Should have done better.

— Rob (@JuceeRob) November 7, 2020

Rubbish half for him should have saved the 3rd and free kick

In other Leeds news, the club have attempted to hijack a deal for a young defender – have a read who it is here!
