Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan has described Leeds United target Arne Slot as the ‘most exciting head coach’ he has seen in a decade.

The Lowdown: Bad news...

The Whites seemed to have their eye on Slot after missing out on Carlos Corberan and Andoni Iraola over recent days. An approach was made for the Feyenoord manager with reports even claiming Slot would be open to the idea of taking over at Elland Road.

A more recent update from the 44 year-old however insists he is staying put in Holland, so Leeds may have some convincing to do if they want to revive a possible deal.

As relayed by Adam Pope, Slot said: “It is true that I will stay with Feyenoord, I can say that with this one. That is clear, fans do not have to be afraid.”

The Latest: Van der Kraan's insight

Journalist Van der Kraan, who has contributed for Sky Sports, was speaking to talkSPORT regarding Leeds and Slot on Thursday, before the coach's comments emerged.

As relayed on Twitter, the reporter said that the 44-year-old is the ‘most exciting head coach I've seen in ten years’ and appeared to be shocked at the fact he could move to Leeds, although he too believes the manager will actually stay put.

The Verdict: Change his mind

Van der Kraan spoke extremely highly of Slot, so if Leeds could pull a move off, it may prove to be a real managerial coup in the long run. Slot has shown in recent days that his sides like to play full-throttle football, with Feyenoord having a whopping 85 attempts at goal combined across their last two games.

It could take a while for him to implement his style on the Leeds squad, although several members of the side played under Marcelo Bielsa, who also preferred an attacking system.

Leeds need results in the short term, though, and with Slot averaging over two points per game with Feyenoord, he could be the man to bring back a feel-good factor in Yorkshire and give the Whites an instant boost.

It's up to Andrea Radrizzani to change his mind.
