Leeds producer Conor McGilligan has relayed news involving star man Raphinha ahead of the trip to Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

The Lowdown: Chelsea leading the race…

According to Football Transfers, Chelsea are leading Barcelona in the race to sign the Brazilian this summer.

Talks have already been held between those at Stamford Bridge and the representatives of Raphinha, who is thought to be open to a move to London.

The 25-year-old has a €75m (£62.4m) release clause in his Elland Road contract, however, should the Whites suffer relegation, that will drop to €25m (£20.8m).

The Latest: McGilligan’s post

McGilligan, who works for LeedsLive and runs One Leeds Fan Channel on YouTube, took to Twitter to react to Football Transfers’ update on Raphinha.

He spotted within the story that the winger doesn’t plan to pen new terms in Yorkshire as of now, relaying the news to his followers.

“No plans to sign a new deal, allegedly.”

The Verdict: Worrying few months

Raphinha has been Leeds’ best performer in the Premier League by some distance, as per WhoScored. He is joint-fourth in the Premier League’s top scorer’s charts, netting nine times with his latest strike coming on Sunday against Manchester United.

Hopefully, Raphinha will help steer Leeds clear of relegation over the coming months and pen a new deal at Elland Road in the summer.

However, should the worst happen in Yorkshire and Leeds go down, the club will more than likely end up losing their star man for £16m less than his current Transfermarkt valuation.
