Leeds: Jamie Shackleton back in training -Leeds United

Leeds United have been handed multiple injury boosts in recent days, with journalist Beren Cross now spotting Jamie Shackleton back in training at Thorp Arch.

The Lowdown: Four-man boost

The Whites have been without a number of key players in recent weeks, with Raphinha and Rodrigo the latest to miss out last weekend in the defeat to Tottenham.

They joined the likes of Patrick Bamford, Robin Koch, Shackleton and Luke Ayling on the sidelines as Marcelo Bielsa’s side fell to a 2-1 defeat in the capital.

However, Bamford, Koch, Raphinha and Rodrigo have all now returned to training, and Shackleton has also taken part.

The Latest: Blink and you’ll miss it…

Leeds shared an ‘inside training’ clip on their official Twitter page on Wednesday ahead of their trip to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton this weekend.

Fans could clearly see the likes of Bamford, Koch, Raphinha and Rodrigo back on the training pitch, while Shackleton was also spotted by Cross.

The 22-year-old, who has missed the last two Premier League games through injury, can be seen ever so briefly alongside Raphinha between 0:53 and 0:54 in the footage posted by the club.

The Verdict: Good news…

Shackleton has been described as ‘important’ by Bielsa and has mainly been used at right-back, so having him available once again will free up the versatile Stuart Dallas.

The Northern Irishman has filled in for the 22-year-old in recent weeks, so if Shackleton returns against Brighton, that will give Bielsa the freedom to use Dallas at left-back once more or even in central midfield.

Options and strength in depth are what Leeds need ahead of the busy festive period, and it seems as if that is what they’ll be getting over the coming weeks.
