Leeds United correspondent Phil Hay has shared news from Jesse Marsch’s press conference regarding an 'incoming' signing in the next week.

The Lowdown: Busy window

Victor Orta has brought in five new first-team players for Jesse Marsch this summer while also bolstering the club’s academy ranks with moves for Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins.

A new forward and a left-back are still on the to-do list at Elland Road, as is a back up goalkeeper to provide experienced cover to Illan Meslier.

Second-choice goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson ‘picked up an issue’ in a behind-closed-doors but is expected to be fit enough for a place on the bench against Wolves on Saturday, and it looks as if there could be another addition over the next seven days.

The Latest: News from Thorp Arch

Hay was present at Thorp Arch for Marsch’s first pre-match press conference of the season.

The reliable reporter relayed comments from the Leeds head coach, who suggested there will be an ‘incoming’ next week to bolster the club’s goalkeeping ranks.

The Verdict: Great news

Leeds’ goalkeeping ranks are extremely young after Kiko Casilla left the club last week, with Meslier the oldest at 22. Therefore, bringing in an experienced ‘keeper could be a shrewd piece of business during the course of Marsch’s first full season in charge.

Meslier has been a reliable figure for both Marcelo Bielsa and Marsch, starting every Premier League game last season. Hopefully, a new ‘keeper won’t be needed on the pitch over the next ten months and the Frenchman's impressive run will continue, but having one around the training ground could help Meslier take his game to the next level.
