Leeds United winger Dan James looks set to complete a move to Fulham before the end of deadline day, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano reports.

The Lowdown: James linked with exit

The Welshman has been linked with a move away from Elland Road before the summer transfer window concludes, having not been a key man for the Whites yet this season.

Granted, James he has appeared in four Premier League games in 2022/23 to date, starting twice, but he is yet to register a goal or an assist in that time.

Time may be running out for late business to happen but it looks as though James could yet seal a Leeds exit.

The Latest: Last-gasp move?

Taking to Twitter, Romano claimed that Fulham are on the cusp of signing the 24-year-old, with Bamba Dieng the direct replacement for him:

"Excl: Fulham are closing on Daniel James deal! Agreement set to be completed on loan from Leeds. Final details discussed right now.

"Leeds are set to sign Bamba Dieng as replacement from OM for €10m."

The Verdict: Disappointing signing to date

While James' attitude cannot be questioned, there is no denying that he has been a disappointment at Leeds overall, not producing enough end product.

He only registered four goals and assists apiece in 32 league matches last season and Jesse Marsch clearly believes Dieng is another level up from the Wales international.

James could yet be a force at Fulham, with age still on his side - he has been hailed as 'brilliant' by former teammate Marcus Rashford - but losing him at the last minute doesn't feel like a huge blow for Leeds after Dieng's arrival.
