Leeds United are having a very quiet January transfer window, and Andrea Radrizzani has spoken about why this is the case and hinted what he will do in the near future.
What Radrizzani had to say about the transfer window
Radrizzani spoke to the media about Leeds’ plans after he announced a new and improved deal with the 49ers group, claiming that the reason they are not busy this month is they are looking further into the future, via Leeds Live: “We need to be smart, consistent, current and rational in our decisions.
“Even now when everyone is excited, it doesn’t mean tomorrow we buy a player, unfortunately not, because the club is already financially exposed by the investment we’ve done this summer, being the sixth biggest club investing over £100m. So as a good custodian of the club we need to respect the numbers and we need to be rational.
“The moment that we are confirmed in the Premier League for the next season, we can be open to more opportunities. Today, this moment is not there yet. We are 12th in the league, we have 23 points, we need to have 40 to be in the Premier League next year, but we are not there yet. We need to earn every point before we can reach that point and then make a new plan.”
These comments should come across as very exciting for Leeds supporters. The club Chairman knows the 40 point mark is crucial in their first season back in the top flight and quite frankly the only thing that matters right now.
However, seeing Radrizzani hint at a potential adventurous ‘new plan’ for when they are guaranteed safety in the Premier League this season is exciting and hopefully this will see them compete consistently at an even higher level in the division in the near future.
The Chairman’s plans have got the club promoted back to the top flight and therefore news that he will come up with new ideas when safety is guaranteed emphasises what a very enjoyable time it is to be a Leeds supporter.
In other news, this Leeds man shines for his country on international duty.
