Leeds United: Noel Whelan lauds over Stuart Dallas

Leeds United: Noel Whelan lauds over Stuart Dallas - Leeds United News

Leeds United are thoroughly enjoying their time under Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League and former Leeds star Noel Whelan has been raving over the performances of one man; Stuart Dallas.

Whelan in awe over Dallas

Whelan could not stop piling the praise on Dallas as he told Football Insider: “He has too much to offer going forward. He thrives in that position. He has a great understanding with Patrick Bamford and the wingers. You need that. Dallas has been very attacking-minded anyway, even when he has played as a full-back.

“He has taught himself how to defend as a full-back and unlike Alioski, he managed to adapt to that role. Dallas should be an attacking midfielder moving forward though. He loves to get in advanced positions. He is great at linking up the play and he has energy to burn.

“These past two seasons, he has been knocking on a 9 out of 10 every single week. He is Mr. Consistent. There have been no weeks where I have thought he was even a 6. He is so reliable, no matter where you put him. He is the most professional player I have seen at Leeds for a long, long time. Dallas always produces the goods.”

Dallas is integral to Leeds

The player has shone for Leeds in the top flight this season, in multiple positions, including right-back and central midfield, and for someone to be so versatile in such a strong division emphasises his quality.

In his 22 appearances in the league, he has shown how much of a creative threat he can be as he has picked up four goals, two assists, and managed an average of 1.1 shots a game (WhoScored).

To be such a versatile asset, you have to be useful at both ends of the pitch, and Dallas has shown that his worth in defence as well as he has managed an average of 2.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.3 clearances a game.

These stats show why Whelan raves over the 29-year-old, and why he should be very proud of the season he is having. Without him in the side, Leeds arguably would have been a lot worse off in the division than they currently are.
