Leeds United: Sam Greenwood linked with Swansea City -Leeds United

Leeds United have held talks with Swansea City regarding a possible January loan move for striker Sam Greenwood, The Swansea Independent report.

The Lowdown: Greenwood’s Premier League debut

Greenwood, labelled as a ‘weapon’ by Noel Whelan due to his set piece ability, has been on the books at Elland Road for 18 months.

During that time, he has scored 20 times in 34 appearances for the club’s Under-23 side and has made three first-team appearances.

The 19-year-old made his Premier League debut after coming on as a substitute against former employers Arsenal earlier this month.

Swansea have already tried and failed with two loan bids for Greenwood, but it could well be a case of third time lucky.

The Latest: Talks held

The Swansea Independent shared a story on Tuesday, suggesting talks have been held this month over a winter window switch.

They claim that an agreement is far closer than ever before but there still seems to be a stall from Elland Road officials over a possible temporary move to Wales.

This update comes just days after winger Raphinha was linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

The Verdict: Keep?

If Swansea cannot guarantee Greenwood regular game time in the second tier, then it could be wise for the Whites to keep the teenager at Thorp Arch.

That would allow him to still gain regular minutes for the Under-23’s, while also allowing Bielsa to keep a close eye on his development.

Who knows, Greenwood may even get more chances to make the first-team matchday squad with Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo injured, but for now, it seems as if a January exit could be one to keep a close eye on.
